So, today. This fine and surprisingly bright Saturday. Today was the day of Northampton University open day. After seeing how they presented students work at Graduate Fashion Week I was curious to see if the work space reflected positively also. I photographed my day... starting with this open day. Saturday 7th November starts here.
Wake me up 'cat claw'.
They know what's important...
Frothy tea? Hmm.
So... I traveled. I saw. I asked. I snooped. I left.
I liked.
The university itself is in a lovely location, I mean its not London, but it felt comfortable. The building is well presented, my Dad kindly informing me that it most probably was a hospital before on account of the tiled walls beneath its outer skin. (I don't know this for sure) One thing I have to applaud them for is the amount of effort put in... there was a presentation- in, by the way, a very new lecture room with seats that get higher as you go further away- we then got a tour of the facilities. The main thing I noticed was how building felt like a university should, it was mature, and in no way had 'school-like' features. In the classrooms you are given your own 'pod' in which is yours to put up pictures to inspire you and work by yourself. I have never seen this before and think its a really great thing- this is an element which, correct me if I'm wrong, you would not find anywhere else.
Impressed? Yes. Is it London? No.
The search goes on...
