Between The Wars 3

After getting a few ideas together I still didn't feel like I'd grasped the time enough, I wanted to know below the surface of that time. I'd already looked at the obvious and now I wanted to go deeper.

I became intrigued with penny peepshows which later grew into pornography in the 1920s and 30s. I thought the images were classy and beautiful, a huge comparison on the pornography today. I began to wonder about their reputation, and their role as a woman.

In the pictures I'd found, the girls draped pearls, lace and shear materials over their bodies, decorated with fringing and a cute little waved crop.

From this image I got really inspired by the way you can see a slither of her thigh and wonder if I could cut up elegancy like this.

So I designed this, I wanted to make her thighs peek out so I made, what would have been a long skirt, two skirts with a gap for her legs. I wanted to make her elegantly provocative, so I designed the armholes to come out of her back so that her bust would be the focus, using the bodice from my previous research. I also included the use of pearls around their necks on the garment and slithers of lace here and there for subtle glances of desire.

I was really interested in a detailed back, such as this 1930s piece below. I kept this in mind.
